RARE HISTORIC ORIGINAL 1953 25ft AIRSTREAM CRUISER
MUSEUM INQUIRIES WELCOMED
The CRUISER is the trailer that would eventually become the OVERLANDER. 1953 is the first full year for the Ohio factory, and the Cruiser and Flying Cloud are the only two models made there that year. This is the last full year for the square back end and during the next year the Cruiser will become a 26ft with a sloped back end. The 1953 AIRSTREAM CRUISER is a beautiful trailer with classic 13 panel endcaps and metal framed windows that are universally coveted by most Airstream aficionados. There are very few of these left in existence now as most have fallen into a horrible state of disrepair long ago. This is a unique opportunity to own a TRULY UNCOMMON collector trailer that will forever be an icon of American history and culture. Airstream moved into its Los Angeles factory and was officially incorporated in 1948 making this one of the very first Airstream trailers to usher in the new era. The example being offered here is a fully polished original.
A complete professional polish tops off this beautiful example of the 1953 Airstream Cruiser, courtesy of P&S Trailer Service of Helena, OH. The coach has a dry weight of approx. 2500 lbs [estimated] and a hitch weight of 300 lbs. The original exterior skin, frame, flooring, running gear, and interior components are all solid and have been newly serviced. The trailer is being listed and sold here as-is with no holding tanks and with no finished floor covering installed over the repaired sub flooring. Installation of holding tank components and floor covering can be performed at additional cost and scheduled as workload permits.
