Is it odd to ask to take a picture?

There are three ... THREE!!! ... Airstreams parked at the little campground 2 miles from us.

Would it be odd for us to ask if we could photograph the outside? Two of the three look really sharp and the third has great character. I'd love to take pictures, but I don't want to give someone the creeps, know what I mean?

Hi, just knock on the door and ask! I don't know of an airstream owner that wouldn't be thrilled to have you take pictures. They will probably take you on a tour of the inside too. Airstreamers love to "show and tell"! Unless, they happen to be in the "witness protection program"!

You will find that Airstreamers are a unique group of "soul mates". Even if the only thing they have in common are their AS.

If I had the same chance, I would certainly ask and I have an AS already.

Of course it is ok! It's done all the time so don't be shy about it. We are looking around for another AS, it's been years since we had our first. So any time we are in a camp ground and see one that catches our eye, we always ask if we can take some pictures. Haven't run across any one yet that said no.

I'll do it! In fact, we're headed that way tomorrow so I'll cajole my husband into stopping by.

I should keep an eye out there for an AS for sale. That would be perfect. No shipping required!

Hi, I take pictures everywhere and almost always of other Airstreams. I don't ask, but if I post their pictures somewhere, [like on a forum] I crop out or blank out their license plates. Some people don't want their license plates shown. We were at a camp ground once where people took a tour bus somewhere and when they came back, they asked the driver to stop at our trailer. I offered a tour, but people were too shy. They just wanted to check out the outside.

That reflects most highly on you.
As the photographer, you automatically have copyright as the creator...it doesnt
have to be registered. However, respecting others' privacy & boundaries in the process is good form.

When in doubt, ask first. Ive found most people dont mind if they're shown some common courtesy &
respect. That also holds true for corporate entities.

I take pictures of other rigs and outside items all the time and I don't ask but like Robert, I also try not to catch the license plate or I blur it out. Just common courtesy. I also try not to take pictures of kids unless they are with their parents in the pic or their backs are turned to me because most of my pictures do go online.

Re: Is it odd to ask to take a picture?

I take photographs all the time of campers, trailers and RVs I see out on the road. When there are activities going on, of course I end up getting shots with all sorts of people in them. I'm just very careful what I do with the photos. I usually delete anything potentially embarrassing. I would never post swimsuit photos, although sometimes it's hard to crop out strangers when I'm taking pics of our family in the pool.

I have never had a problem, when asking to photograph an airstream or any other photos. I usually ask, and if people are in the shot I ask if it is ok to post online. Quite a few times, I have gotten their email address, so I can send the pictures to them, too. So far, I have not met a grumpy airstream owner.

Why would it be odd? The worst that can happen is for them to say no but if it was me I'd be proud to show off mine
