I was wondering if any of you full-timers had a remedy for my situation. When I cook a food, with a strong odor, I can smell it forever. I turn the vents on, but it does not seem to help. What do you guys do? Maybe i need stronger vent fans?

Your safari probably has the same fan system that came in my 68' when I got mine the thing barely had any sucking power and it was really, really loud. Inland RV sells replacement motors, but i found that years of cooking gunk made it really hard to get the old one out and the fan blades off of it. Also I don't remember exactly what the price was but it was certainly not a "steal"
I bought a new/newish hood from a rv salvage yard that has an ebay store. The hood has a light, a nice white powder coat and the centrifugal style fan is more powerful and quieter than the propeller style that came with our vintage units.
What do you cook that is so stinky? you could try using a pressure cooker, I love the results so much that I have a small cooker for veggies and a larger one for roasts. Less energy/LP gas, lower temps in the kitchen (as opposed to using the oven) and it takes a 1/3 of the time.
check out this website, pressure cooking isn't just for canning and fried chicken any more. Soft boiled eggs out of the pressure cooker... you can't beat it.
Great info. Thanks! I have the same issue. Cooking anything in a small confined space leaves a smell. I hate turning on fans because of their noise. I leave the door open when I can. Been looking for a quieter fan. Nice site on pressure cooking too. I'm definitely getting into that.
An small open container of baking soda will absorb most if not all post cooking smells.
Replace the baking soda every few weeks, or if the soda becomes too damp and 'clumpy' or when the post-cooking smells become noticable again.
A tip.
We keep a milk bottle-capfull in our fridge and Voila! no fridge smells.
Probably would work in a bathroom too.
I always forget to change the baking soda. Don't know why. It's not like it costs a lot or anything. I just can't remember to do it. LOL
I cook Mexican food and lasagna, and those two make the worst smells. Thanks, for the replacement oven hood idea. I did not even think to check ebay for parts.
Reminds me of an occasion when we cooked breakfast for a group: 2-3 pkgs of bacon, 2-3 pkgs of sausage, etc.--I thought we would never get rid of the odor. After I completely cleaned all surfaces throughout the 34' Ltd (wood overhead bins, ceilings and walls, all bulkheads, doors, drawer fronts, windows, mirrors, shower walls, fans, etc.), we finally had a cleaning service come in and clean carpet and upholstery, too. We had a faint odor after that, but it faded quickly. That was a very expensive lesson: now we cook odoriferous foods outside, and if it's raining, we open a can of soup.
