    Question Replacing load equalizing hitch

I'm about to have to replace my existing load equalizing hitch (chain linked type - unknown brand). Is there a consensus for a preferred brand/type for towing the smaller AS's? I have a 21' that I pull with a Ford F-250 short bed crew cab super duty diesel. I've never had any sway issues with this trailer and can run w/o load leveling although not quite ideally. I have an old "inherited" hitch available that I think will work with my existing receiver drop bar, if there's no strong reason for buying something like an Equal-i-zer hitch. Recommendations would be appreciated.

A load equalizing hitch does the same job whether your AS is 21 or 31 feet. I have an Equal-i-zer and like it Equal-i-zer® Hitch - The “American Original” with 4-Point Sway Controlâ„¢ and Weight Distribution Also check Trailer hitch, hitches and bike rack (800)298-8924 and Reese

Thanks for your reply, Swift Silver. I mentioned the 21' only because of its relatively low significance to the size/weight of the TV I'm using. I understand the purpose and mechanics of the weight distribution hitches. I'm just looking to see if there are any strong reasons for going to one design or another and if so what those designs and reasons are.

I believe you'd get as many differing opinions as the number of people you
ask on this one. Ive tried everything from Hensley to several of the newer
styles/brands and still favor the old style best...
Old Style Reese Sway Control OK?

Thanks for the comments, Cortes. I would expect that just about everyone has their personal preferences. It will be the support they give for those preferences and the number of similar preferences that will mean the most to me. BTW, I learned a lot from the link you provided from the earlier post (Tuning a Reese Hitch). That was a good read.
